Electric Ocean Sign

If you are visiting Orlando, Florida this summer, head on over to SeaWorld Orlando to experience the fun, family-friendly, unique, GLOWING experience that is Electric Ocean. This is one of my favorite events at SeaWorld, and I really missed it last year. SeaWorld did try to bring as much of the experience as they could during  a pandemic but it just made me miss the real thing even more.

When I first got my annual passes to SeaWorld, I had no idea exactly what Electric Ocean was. Is it a show? A separately ticketed event? What? My hope is that I can answer those questions and more for you here. We’ll have you Feeling Electric in no time!

Electric Ocean is NOT a separately ticketed event. It is included with your paid admission to SeaWorld. It includes special shows that only run during the event, dance parties, and a unique firework/light show to end the evening.

In years past, Electric Ocean included special versions of the Dolphin, Whale, and Sealion shows. The Dolphin Days (now Dolphin Adventure) show turned in to Touch the Sky. The One Ocean (now Orca Encounter) show turned into Light Up the Night, and the Sea Lion High show (currently closed for maintenance) turned into Sea Lions Tonight – which was a hilarious show that poked fun at pretty much everything in the park. Touch the Sky and Light Up The Night are gone, and I suspect the same will be true of Sea Lions Tonight, when that stadium opens back up. However, SeaWorld has added new shows for 2021 that can only be seen during Electric Ocean.

Rescue Tails – this show will feature several different species of animals that have been rescued. You’ll learn a little bit about them and why they needed to be rescued. You will also learn more about SeaWorld’s commitment to rescue (it’s more than just a theme park). This is a great way to rest and get out of the heat for around 20-30 minutes, learn a little and see some cute animals all at the same time. This show takes place in the Seaport Theatre. It will only run on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays during Electric Ocean. Be sure to check the app for showtimes, as they aren’t guaranteed to stay the same each day.

Elmo Rocks – If you have any Sesame Street fans in your party, this is the show for you! Elmo and some of his friends (including Cookie Monster and Bert & Ernie, and more) will be performing in the Nautilus Theatre. This show will only take place during Electric Ocean dates and be sure to check the app for show times.

Electric Current – a live DJ will turn The Waterfront into a dance party. I consider this sort of a pre-party to Club Sea Glow. So if you have kids who are not going to make it til 8 pm, (or if you won’t make it) maybe check this out and let them dance their hearts out so they’ll sleep all the way home.

Club Sea Glow – the most awesome, family-friendly, glowing dance party in Central Florida! A DJ takes over Bayside Stadium, there are black lights, dancers in glowing costumes, and more. It’s a great time for all ages. Even if you don’t dance, you have to go check it out at least once. The dancers are awesome at engaging with the kids. They really go out of their way to make sure everyone is having fun. I have made many trips to SeaWorld just to go see Orca Encounter (formerly One Ocean), then head over to Club Sea Glow for the dance party and…

IGNITE!!! – Yes, IGNITE deserves all caps. This is a fantastic fireworks show that includes fountains, laser lights, fire(!!) and music. It’s a unique experience that is best viewed close up at Bayside Stadium. On a breezy night, if you’re up close on the stage, you can feel the mist from the fountains and the heat from the flames. It’s an awesome experience, that will definitely leave you Burning Bright! However, if you have kids who will be scared by the experience, you might want to view it from more of a distance.

I’ve left out a few minor details – special adult beverages, neon sculptures, and things like that. But I really think you’ll enjoy Electric Ocean.
